Former US president, George H.W. Bush hospitalized
According to the Houston Chronicle and Houston TV station, former US president George H.W. Bush has been hospitalized. Bush's chief of staff, Jean Becker, says he was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital after falling ill but he's "doing fine."

Bush, who served a single-term as President from 1988 to 1992, was not expected to attend the inauguration of the 45th President, Donald J. Trump, in Washington on Friday due to health concerns.

Several bouts with illness have kept the 92-year-old out of the spotlight in recent years and he has rarely made public remarks.

Bush revealed several years ago that he suffered from a form of Parkinson's disease that left him unable to walk.

He uses a wheelchair or a scooter to get around and had two other health scares in 2014 and 2015

Why now? Lagos landlord allegedly hangs tenant's dog on the ceiling (photo)
According to a LIB reader who sent this in, this happened at Sapade along Lagos-Ibadan Express way. A tenant moved into the building with his dog just two weeks ago. The landlord told the tenant that dogs were not allowed in his compound and told the tenant he should keep his dog within his rented apartment which as you all know is not possible.

The tenant and the landlord argued about this for days and when he returned from work yesterday, he found his dog hanging from the building's ceiling. It was dead. Other tenants testified seeing the landlord around the dog owners apartment earlier in the day but who do you report something like this to? Sad!

Video: South African pastor 'heals' woman's 'vagina pimples' with his shoe

Just when we thought we have seen it all...from South African pastors forcing members to eat snakes, spraying insecticide, drink Dettol all in the name of healing, another Man of God has added a new twist.

A video uploaded on the Facebook page of Pastor Zendile Andries November of Victorious Faith Ministries, South Africa, shows the pastor asking one of his female congregants whether she has “pimples” on her vagina.
When she said ‘yes’‚ a man removes November’s shoe and the pastor is seen handing it to the woman to place between her thighs. She then suddenly falls to the floor with the shoe between her thighs.

Another female member is then shown saying that she went to the bathroom with the woman and that she is now healed and will finally be able to sleep with her husband.
The woman is crying and there are cheers all round as the pastor tells her to rush home - meaning home to her husband as she is healed.

LIB Exclusive: ‘I’m not in a competition with Timi Dakolo or anyone else’ - Darey

On February 6, 2011 softsell magazine, City People crowned Darey Art Alade as Nigeria’s King of R&B. Fast forward to 2017, in this exclusive chat with the award winning singer, we asked him ‘Who is the King of RnB in Nigeria?

‘I have no idea, I don’t know. First of all, how many people are even making RnB music? So, I don’t know’.

Our reporters queried further asking about an alleged feud between Darey and Timi Dakolo.

He responded saying, ‘You can’t tell me people think there is some kind of rival. I speak for myself, over the years, I have been making my music and I have never been in any competition with anybody. I’m only in competition with myself. I try to improve on anything I have done before. I won’t say I am in competition with anybody and I don’t think anybody out there should think they are in competition with anybody else. Just do your own thing and make good music’ he said.

Asked if he’ll consider a collaboration with Timi Dakolo, ‘we have not talked about it but who knows? I know I have spoken to Banky W about making music together. I think when the right time comes. We are all brothers. In fact, Banky is my cousin, so no problem. It’s really about the music. When the moment comes and the music is right, there could be collaboration. That would be nice. Maybe, me, Timi and others would join hands and do like a national anthem for the ladies’.
Focus on packing out of White House!'- North Korea tells Obama after Kim Jong Un's sister is black listed
The very secretive state of North Korea has told U.S President Barack Obama to focus on leaving the White House rather than North Korea's track record of human rights abuses after the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Monday imposed additional sanctions on North Korea for it's flagrant abuse of human rights.

The sanctions by OFAC  which includes blacklisting seven North Korean citizens, North Korea leader Kim Jong-un's sister among them, were being enacted alongside the United State Department's "Report on Serious Human Rights Abuses or Censorship in North Korea,"

In November, a report was released showing satellite images of up 120,000 people including children as young as 7 subjected to forced labor, torture, starvation, rape and death and a 2014 UN report estimated that "hundreds of thousands of political prisoners" have died in North Korean.

KCNA, North Korea's run media agency swiftly reacted to the U.S' sanctions saying:
“The Obama group can hardly have a sound sleep, seized with the extreme uneasiness after facing the undeniable strategic setback. Worse still, they are hit hard by the public. Much upset by this situation, the Obama group have gone so foolish as to kick up the ‘human rights’ racket against the DPRK.”

"The US is not qualified to talk about somebody's 'human rights' as it is the world's worst human rights abuser and a tundra of human rights.
"Obama would be well advised not to waste time taking issue with others' 'human rights issue(s)' but make good arrangements for packing in the White House.

"He had better repent of the pain and misfortune he has brought to so many Americans and other people of the world by creating the worst human rights situation in the US during his tenure of office."

Amnesty International said in a statement:

"The inmate population has been gradually eliminated through deliberate starvation, forced labor, executions, torture, rape and the denial of reproductive rights,"
"These camps constitute the cornerstone of the country's large infrastructure dedicated to political repression and social control that enables widespread and systematic human rights abuses
Photos: EFCC seizes N948m aircraft allegedly belonging to ex-governor Ali Modu Sheriff
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has impounded a N948million aircraft allegedly belonging to former Borno State governor and PDP factional chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff.
According to The Nation, the aircraft was seized on Monday at the Maiduguri International Airport along with two other private jets under surveillance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The grounding of the three aircraft is part of the ongoing investigation which traced some looted funds by some former political office holders to the purchase of private jets.
It was learnt that a Dornier aircraft 328 linked with the former governor had been earlier impounded, but it resumed operations without EFCC’s clearance.
The plane is marked N805PG and 5NBMH. It allegedly belongs to Skybird Air. Detectives have interrogated the suspected beneficial owner of the jet, Mr. Samuel Ayodele, the Managing Director of Skybird.
A “beneficial owner” is a legal term where specific property rights (“use and title”) in equity belong to a person even though the legal title of the property belongs to another person.
"We impounded the Dornier 328 on Monday following suspicion in the manner in which it was acquired," said an EFCC source.
"Our detectives are working on clues that the aircraft belongs to a former governor of Borno State but it is being used by a front. We are already looking into relevant records; we want to establish who actually owns it. We are tracking how and when the aircraft was bought, where it was purchased, the mode of payment and the sources of funds. This is definitely an international transaction; it is easier to trace the inflows and outflows from any account."
"There are also some petitions containing allegations against the former governor concerning the aircraft and some public funds. If the aircraft cannot be identified with the ex-governor, the EFCC will release it to the beneficial owner."
Ayodele is said to have told detectives that the aircraft was originally with the defunct IRS Airlines, which bought it with a loan of about N948million from a bank.
The source quoted Ayodele as saying: “I bought the liability from the bank and took over the aircraft because IRS was not able to pay back the loan.
“It is a clean business. Since I graduated from school, I have been working in the aviation sector.”
“The movement of the jets is presently restricted until the conclusion of our ongoing probe. All relevant agencies in the aviation industry are collaborating with us on these two jets. We are working on information made available to EFCC that they were bought with looted funds,” a source said.
On the identities of the owners of the jets, the source said they would not be disclosed until the EFCC has made substantial progress in their investigation

Engineer murdered a month to retirement . Family Accuses wife, police IPO, of conspiracy

Story written by Odita Sunday. Read below...
An Engineer with a frontline Oil company and former chairman of NUPENG, Mr. Adeyemo Adedoyin, 57, who was billed to retire this January to establish his own company has been allegedly hacked to death by yet to be apprehended suspects inside his house at Aviation Estate, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos.

But the immediate younger sister to Adeyemo, simply identified as Benedict has accused the brother’s first wife as the mastermind of the dastardly act.
Benedict who described the purported murder of his brother as height of wickedness, urged the Inspector General of Police Mr. Idris Kpotum Ibrahim to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators did not go unpunished to serve as deterrents to others
Alleging that the brother died of bruises sustained as a result of beating and clubbing by the second wife and her agents, she urged the IGP to ignore the earlier post mortem report alleging that the deceased died of heart failure.
She revealed that preliminary investigation revealed that the autopsy was tampered with as the first wife allegedly bribed the Investigating police Officer (IPO) one Babalola and the pathologist who carried out the purported autopsy report
According to her, ‘‘my brother planned to retire this month and he had commenced feasibility studies to commence his own establishment. On that fateful day in December, he put a phone call to his second wife and while on that, the first wife overheard him speaking to her, felt jealous and confronted him. In the course of the brawl the wife’s relations joined in beating my brother and he sustained bruises as a result of the beating. The wife rushed him to hospital without informing anyone.
She added:‘’Prior to this day, the first wife had severally threatened to deal with her and my brother had cried loud which made me to relocate them to one of my flats so that I would monitor events. I even asked the wife’s relations living with them to quit but the woman kept them for this purpose.
She argued that the two relations were arrested by the police but were swiftly released even before the autopsy was conducted fuelling suspicion that the police had compromised investigations.
Giving reasons on why the result of the earlier autopsy result should be jettisoned MTS Benedict argued that the pathologist erred by not involving both parties before carrying out such sensitive report.

‘’We were not represented and not even invited. We suspect foul play and reject it. We got first class information that they poured chemical on my brother’s body to conceal the bruises on his body. We call for a fresh autopsy.
However, at their no 9 Bisi Ladipo street residence at Mafoluku Oshodi Lagos, friends and well-wishers including colleagues are trooping to the area to sympathize with the family.
One of the close friends who spoke under condition of anonymity urged the IGP to thoroughly investigate the matter so as to ensure justice to the deceased family and friends as well as to enable the dead to truly rest in peace
But a senior police officer at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, which investigated the case who pleaded anonymity, said all due process were taken before the autopsy was conducted and exonerated the police investigating team of any blame.
Corpse of 16 year old girl discovered after she went to see someone she met online
The body of a 16 year old girl, Leonne Weeks from South Yorkshire was found few hours after she was declared missing.
According to her friends, the teenager had gone to see someone she meet online. When she didn't return, her parents launched a facebook appeal and few hours later, her body was found in an alleyway in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
The police has launched a murder investigation and has arrested an 18 year old man from Dinnington in connection to the murder.
Speaking on what happened to Miss Leonne, one of her friends said the pathway where she was found is a dead end and unsafe
"I used to be neighbours with her and know her really well - she's a good mate of mine is Leonne. We don't know what's happened, all we know is she went to meet someone - meet a bloke - and now her body has been found. She met him off the internet - one of those dating sites. I don't know how she died - all I know is the pathway is just a dead end and backs onto a few allotments down there."

Man City hold 'positive' £100m talks with Barcelona over sensational transfer of Lionel Messi

Barcelona, seriously struggling with debt and a huge salary outlay, is set to be tested with a £100m bid from Man City for star player Lionel Messi according to reports from The Sun.
Messi is in the last 18 months of his contract at Barca, and following recent comments by some club directors, Messi could be sold if the right financial offer comes in.
The player has been linked with a move to Man City, PSG, and Man U and according to the new report, Messi could join Man City as he holds manager Pep Guardiola in high esteem and misses playing for him.
.The report reads:
'SunSport understands negotiations between executives of both clubs were held at the end of last month to determine if a world record transfer is possible.
City did not make a formal bid for the five-time World Player of the Year, but made it clear they were not afraid of topping the global high of £89m that Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba last summer.'
Barca have so far refused to name a price or even confirm they will sell Messi, who will turn 30 in June.
However, their willingness to listen to City has encouraged the Etihad hierarchy and the conversation was described as ‘positive’ by a source.
'City boss Pep Guardiola is under increasing scrutiny over the club’s poor form this term.
But Etihad chiefs retain total faith the former Barca coach can turn them into Euro giants.'
'They also believe the personal relationship Guardiola forged with Messi at the Nou Camp can seal any move.
Messi has seen the Catalan club hand huge new deals to Luis Suarez and Neymar.'
'But Barca have conceded they cannot afford the kind of contract the Argentine wizard expects.
'SunSport revealed last summer that City had told the player’s advisors they were willing to give him £800,000 a week.
'And Messi’s camp claim their man — who has been at Barca since he was 13 — was recently offered £850k a week to move to China.'
